Over 7 million people joined the No Kings protests across the country — one of the largest demonstrations in U.S. history. Among them were thousands of Unitarian Universalists amplifying our values, sharing joy, and joining the call for a democracy where we all have a voice and where all of us can thrive.
These marches were more than protest — they were a model of our collective power. We gathered to keep one another safe, to find common cause, and to build across difference. That is democracy itself: a people discovering their own strength, shaping the world through solidarity, and creating communities where everyone belongs.
The truth is, the things we fight for must also be the things we fight with. To build a democracy where all thrive, we must build movements where all thrive — movements rooted in care, courage, and collective responsibility.
In this time of authoritarian capture, when those in power use government and the military against their own people, we are called to build systems of care and safety that democracy requires. We are called to turn away from participation and compliance in systems that harm us, our neighbors, and our future.
Now it’s time to turn that moral power into an organized movement — one that moves in solidarity, aligns across communities, and is willing to be transformed in service to liberation.
