Supporting and Learning from Minneapolis: A New Resource Kit
As ICE escalates its presence in Minneapolis and across the Twin Cities, communities are facing fear, disruption, and state violence at an alarming scale. More than 2,000 ICE officers are currently deployed in the region, and the harm unfolding there is not accidental or isolated. It is the result of policies that criminalize immigration and enforce borders through fear, surveillance, and force rather than care.
In response, Side With Love has created a Minnesota Resource Kit to help Unitarian Universalists and allies respond with clarity, courage, and fierce love. This toolkit gathers trusted reporting, local immigrant justice organizations, organizing and spiritual resources, calls to action, trainings, and guidance for how we understand and message about this moment, including the murder of Renee Good by an ICE agent.
Minneapolis needs moral and material support right now. At the same time, what is happening in the Twin Cities is a warning and a call. Even communities not currently targeted by mass enforcement must prepare, organize, and strengthen relationships, because ICE activity is expanding everywhere.
This resource kit is designed to support people in Minnesota and across the country. Whether you are looking to take action, deepen your understanding, accompany immigrant neighbors, or ground your community spiritually, we hope this toolkit offers a clear starting point.
This resource kit will be updated regularly as conditions change, new calls to action emerge, and additional resources become available. We encourage you to return often, share it widely, and stay connected.
To immigrants, undocumented neighbors, and all those living under fear, we say clearly: you are not alone. Your lives are sacred. Our faith calls us not only to pray for safety, but to organize so that safety becomes real.
May we grieve. May we refuse the normalization of state violence. May we be one of the many.
