Local Stories, Shared Songs – Resources from February Gathering

Last night we gathered to hear three very different stories of local organizing in solidarity with immigrants from Maine, Chicago, and Oakland. Songs for Liberation from Chicago nourished our spirits, reminding us with Woody Guthrie’s song “All you fascists bound to lose,” renewed lyrics with Amazing Grace and more.  We hope you were inspired by the Zoom full of folks sharing their resistance to authoritarianism as we all seek to live our faith with courage and integrity,

Will you take 2 minutes to share your feedback and what you’re up to?

If you missed us live, you can watch the recording and view the presentation slides.

As always, we invited you into reflection and action:

  1. Ground yourself. What is 1 thing you will do to tend to your spirit and regulate this week?

  2. Act. Join an action hour in Zoom any day this week with our UU national ICE OUT! Week of Action

  3. Deepen: Use these Six Questions Congregations Need to Answer About Community Safety in this Moment to build your capacity in your congregation.

  4. Join us again: Sign up for our March Gathering and congregational board and staff members are invited to Now What: The Gathering on the Wednesday after the Gathering. Registration.

I invite you to let us know which of these actions (or others!) you are taking this month, and be sure to read our Action Center Weekly Update for specific actions you can take this week. We publish the update every Tuesday on our Action Center.

The strength of our movements has always been found in our ability to come together. May we continue acting in wider and wider networks of solidarity, and we will see you again in March.

May we dedicate ourselves to love today and always,

Rev. Cathy & Side with Love Staff Team
