12.2.25 Action Center Update

Welcome to the Action Center Weekly Update. Each week, we’ll share:3

  • A brief analysis of critical issues in this political moment

  • Immediate actions you can take

  • Resources to deepen knowledge and strengthen our collective work to side with love

Nothing is inevitable. Justice movements are built by ordinary people who come together to defeat oppression and nurture a loving world. You are not alone. We have power. Together, we can create a just and thriving future.

Movements are strongest when we act together. Organize with your teams and networks, and take these actions in community. For practical tools, see our Organizing School and Skill Up resources.

Democracy

Core Principle: Democracy is not a destination but a practice rooted in interdependence and the worth and dignity of all. While authoritarianism consolidates power, we are the majority—and we must organize to build a truly multiracial democracy.

The Update:
Democracy is a practice of building community. It requires us to be in right relationships, to act out of accountability, solidarity and mutuality. That is the spiritual anchor that calls us to join the call to practice democracy by withholding our money from businesses that are profiting from and collaborating with a cruel authoritarian regime.

We’re joining a growing network of partners choosing to take a stand against corporations this weekend. While this administration uses our tax dollars to pay for ICE, and corporations are lobbying against healthcare, we are taking a stand in it holding our collective buying power.

We Ain’t Buying It is a collective experiment in economic noncooperation — a moment to rethink where our dollars go and what kind of systems they sustain.

Take Action:

Sign the “We Ain’t Buyin It” Pledge

Gender & LGBTQ Justice

Core Principle: Every body is sacred. We affirm that trans people are divine, abortion is a blessing, and no one is disposable. Attacks on identity are designed to divide us—solidarity is our moral and strategic mandate.

    • Learn more about the Pregnancy-to-Prison Pipeline from Amplify-Georgia

      • Amplify-GA recently launched their “Stop Policing Pregnancy” campaign, which aims to educate and mobilize community members around the increasing criminalization of pregnancy.  As we encounter more laws and rhetoric that punish pregnant people who experience miscarriages, seek abortion care, or pursue forms of birth control, understanding the constellation of policies and practices behind them can help us better focus our efforts in our communities.

"Social Change Now is a resource that will accompany individuals and organizations not only in times of crisis, but throughout their lifelong social change journeys to build connected communities and equitable systems."  Join UUWF in discussing the roles Iyer has created, where we fit, and how we can live into our place in the movement (as individuals or as a group). Open to Women+ individuals

Decriminalization & Immigration

Core Principle: Criminalization and dehumanization deny the dignity of our communities. Safety cannot come at the expense of others. As people of faith, we proclaim a future of care, abundance, and mutuality—not domination.

Take Action:

  • In a move so heinously calculated, the Trump Administration has terminated TPS for Hundreds of thousands of Haitian families the evening before Thanksgiving. Temporary Protective Status (TPS) is a measure that protects Haitians in the United States from deportation and allows them to work. With this measure families across the country are now at risk to be separated. When the U.S. government knowingly chooses to send people back to a nation that they themselves have put on a category 4 do not travel due to the continued political crisis that is state-sponsored cruelty. The Haitian Bridge Alliance demands Congress to act in this critical moment. We will release updates as they become available.

Climate Justice

Core Principle: A just and loving world is also a flourishing one. A fossil-free future is possible, where clean energy is a human right and all beings thrive. To get there, we must create new systems, norms, and practices.
