A Blessing for Nonbinary Parents Day

A Blessing for Nonbinary Parents Day

Nonbinary Parents Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of April. Side With Love is grateful to share this blessing from UUA Transgender Support Specialist Rev. Jami Yandle, to celebrate and affirm all nonbinary parents and caregivers.

The Full Set

My family, like so many, is blended.
And one day, my cisgender (as far as I know) kids said this to me:

“You say we’re your bonus kids,
but you’re a bonus too.
Now we’ve got the full set—
Mom, Dad, and J,
our nonbinary bonus parent.
And boom—three parents.”

No confusion. Just truth.

May we all understand the world
as simply and easily as our children do.

May we remember that what looks like too much
is often what keeps us held.

May we all have more people looking out for us.
More care than we thought possible.
More community than we were told we could have.

May we be that open.
That free from boxes.
That ready to let love be bigger than language.

Amen & Blessed be.
